Job Posting: Nursery Attendant
Position Title: Nursery Attendant (3)
Reports to: Associate Pastor and Director of Youth & Family Ministry
Hours: Part time, 8:00 am to 1:00 pm Sundays
Salary: $20/hr.
Position Summary: Provide dependable, safe, and nurturing care for children ages 0 to 4 years in the nursery while their parents and guardians attend church services and other events at St. John’s.
- Responsible for providing age-appropriate care which includes feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the restroom, maintaining a safe environment, holding or sitting with, and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play and other activities
- Comfort children experiencing separation anxiety
- Polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents and volunteers
- In the event of an emergency, notify parent via nursery pager or cell phone
- Abide by the St. John’s Nursery Policies as well as the church-wide Child Safety Policy
- Keep the nursery clean, organized and tidy
- Communicate with Youth & Young Adult Leader about any broken toys, supplies needed, or any other nursery concerns
Minimum Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience working with children 0 – 4 years of age, early childhood education preferred
- Complete of mandated background check(s) and digital course(s)
- An appreciative understanding of the theological doctrines and commitments of St. John’s Lutheran Church
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- 18 years old or older with a High School diploma
- Understand and respect for confidentiality
- Maintain & respect boundaries between adults & children
- Hold current CPR certification
