As LGBTQ+ and ally members of St. John’s, we see you. You are God’s child, and we love you as you are. You are welcome here.
Share your story. Hear our stories. And may God’s story meet ours and bring healing and affirmation.
1128’s intention is to create and hold a safe, inclusive space for LGBTQ+ people and allies to come together in order to do the following:
The Christian Church's legacy to LGBTQ+ people is one built on historic hostility that has resulted in pain and separation of LGBTQ+ people from religious communities that were meant to share and live the expansive love of God to all creation in and through Christ. Rather than following Jesus' example of welcoming all people in love and building them up in faith, the Church has often disenfranchised LGBTQ+ people, becoming the stumbling block to faith that Jesus warned against. 1128 was established to become part of the movement to end this cycle and to bring healing and reconciliation to LGBTQ+ people both within and outside the Church.
St. John's is a vibrant, urban church centered in enthusiastic and inspirational worship, grace-filled service and rich opportunities for spiritual growth.
St. John's is a Reconciling in Christ Church of the Sierra Pacific Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
