Adult Education During Lent

By: Pastor Leslie Welton

Adult education during Lent will capture our theme of “We are Witnesses: Hearing, Wondering, Sharing, Seeing and Hoping Together.” Join us for a multisensory approach to this season as we engage texts together.

March 5 – Hearing: A Lenten Hymn Sing-a-long. Do you love the music of Lent? Want to learn new hymns and songs? How does the music of this season draw us into a life of discipleship and service? Come for an hour of singing and listening.

March 12 – Wondering: Where do we see God in the creative work of others? Take a walk through the St. John’s Art Festival, and let your heart and mind encounter God in the artistic work displayed. A set of reflective questions will be available at the door to guide you.

March 19 – Sharing: Telling our Faith Stories. Join Pastor Frank as he prepares for his sabbatical journey of exploring how the church and it’s members tell their stories. This interactive time will help you tap into the resources you already have to tell your faith story so that others might see the God you know.

March 26 – Seeing: Opening our eyes to spiritual images around us. It’s a photo scavenger hunt! Come ready to form a team and head out into the neighborhood with a camera to capture some images you will bring back to share with the group. Be challenged to see where God is made known in simple things like windows and doors.

April 2 – Hoping: Resurrection imagery in the garden. Come create a resurrection garden, like those from Ash Wednesday, for your Easter table and learn from some local gardeners how the metaphors of seeds and growth can be a witness to faith!
