LUMINARIA

DISCOVERING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

Luminaria welcomes newcomers to fully engage in the life of our faith community. Over several months, participants learn to encounter scripture, articulate some Lutheran specifics and connect into the vibrant life here through an understanding of spiritual gifts and opportunities. Each newcomer, called a lumen, is paired with a companion to guide and help them along their journey of engaging in the St. John's community.

Despite our location in the busiest part of Sacramento, we are blessed with ample free parking on Sundays. We have a small parking lot on the church grounds as well as a parking garage at the corner of 18th and K Streets.

IS CHILD CARE AVAILABLE?

Yes. We welcome children in worship, but we also provide childcare for children ages 6 weeks to 4 years. There is a nursery located on the second floor of the Education Wing that is available during all of our Sunday services.

IS COMMUNION OPEN TO ALL?

Yes. We believe that the gifts of God are free. We commune by intinction most of the time. You will be handed bread and will dip it into the cup. Both wine & grape juice are available. We also offer gluten free wafers.
