Holden 2010![]() St. John's Inter-generational Service & Discipleship Trip An intergenerational service and discipleship trip is planned for summer 2010 for the St. John’s community. In the span of eight days participants of all ages will have the opportunity to: deepen their relationships with those in their own family and other participants; work in meaningful service projects; experience daily prayer, worship and time of solitude; enjoy much hilarity; and truly expand everyone’s understanding of living God’s love in the world. On Thursday, June 24, trip participants will be picked up by charter motor coach at either Sea-Tac airport, or one other mutually agreed upon Seattle location, and then be driven the 150 miles over the Cascades to Wenatchee. For Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights the group will stay in a modest hotel (such as the Comfort Inn located on the banks of the Columbia River). On Friday and Saturday service projects will be arranged for all participants. For example, children will be welcomed to work in a community garden that supplies fresh produce to local food banks, while teens and adults might be working with a community service organization or on a Habitat work site. The details of those service projects will depend upon the size and ages of the group. Charter motor coach will provide necessary transportation. On Sunday morning the group will leave at 8 am from Wenatchee for the 40 mile trip to Field’s Point Landing on Lake Chelan. There the group will board the “Lady of the Lake” for the 2 hour boat ride to Lucerne and the dock for Holden Village. From there, a short 11 mile (45 minute) bus ride and the group arrives at Holden Village, a Lutheran conference and retreat center. Holden Village is a unique community located in the Glacier Peak National Wilderness. This intentional community offers worship, Bible study, academic lectures, recreation, hiking, fishing and activities for all ages. The group will call Holden Village home from Sunday, June 27 to Friday, July 2. On Friday, July 2 the group will depart the village and meet “Lady Express” at 12:30 and arrive back at Field’s Point at 1:45 pm. There the group will be met by charter motor coach and taken back to Sea-Tac airport, or one other designated drop off location. For those flying back to Sacramento that night, the suggestion is to book a flight that departs after 7 pm. To help defray the cost of the service portion of this trip, proceeds from the Annual Crab Feed, Saturday, February 27, will be so directed. Registration Details:
